This work takes the documented ancestry of William Hew Sholto Douglas from himself through 28 generations to notable historical figures in colonial and medieval history. You will find kings and queens of England, Scotland, France. Other monarchs of Europe and many other nobles are included. His last King of England was King Henry VIII from whom William descends twelve times. There are Magna Carta Supporters and Magna Carta Sureties as well as signers of the Declaration of Arbroath and many crusaders as well. The book contains 28 generations of his ancestry in four volumes comprising 1,726 pages of historical text with 2,918 unique endnotes referencing documents and sources. The references that I have used, in most cases, are the same as those used by hereditary societies to track and document the ancestry of their applicants. These are listed in the bibliography. ORGANIZATION: This book begins with William in generation 1, as person one. Generation 2 is his parents as persons 2 and 3. Generation 3 shows his grandparents as persons 4, 5, 6, and 7 and so forth. Every generation begins on a new page. The book ends with the 28th complete generation. Not every person in every generation is shown or is known. In 28 generations if all were known and there were no duplicates, there would be over 268 million ancestors. Obviously, not every person is known, and there is significant pedigree collapse in medieval times as many noble families intermarried.
