In Refraxions, I explore the landscape of life, with the use of a perceptual lens. Just as a lens alters the course of light, and in certain causes new perspectives and color, my intent is to offer a differentiated perspective of an aspect of life, a situation, an imagined scenario or a translation of an original piece of work.One set of poems deals with animals, such as Cecil the Lionheart, Gorillas in the Tryst and the Kasenyi Plain, highlighting situations of exploitation and survival. Another set deals with human situations including the cruelty of the corporate world and the struggles of an entrepreneur.A few poems deal with a fictionalized historical situation, such as the Death of Ramanujan, or A Matter of Gravity dealing with Newton's discovery of the laws of gravitation.The book concludes with the tragedy that is playing out in Kashmir.
