Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] & Evolution of Management Theory (Islamic Management Style, Band 1)

The purpose of this book is to investigate the relevance of major management theories with the practices of the Prophet(ﷺ). The author analysed classical theory, scientific management, human relations movement, contingency theory, and system theory in prophetic perspective. The author found that the Prophet (ﷺ) had practiced almost all of these approaches many centuries ago. However, the author did not cater the criticism against them because these theories are the production of individual circumstances of the proponents. Taylor was an engineer who pressed him to "engineered" management that is also a human issue. Maslow was a psychologist thus he tried to apply it to squeeze employees to get more out of them. Secondly, they evolved over time to resolve the issues of productivity. Thirdly these theories are the production of industrial revolution when large scale manufacturing started. For instance, the first treatise on the subject emerged in 1911 but the science of management exists since the beginning of humanity. It is concerned with the mutual relationships to fulfil human needs and wants which exist since the beginning of human life.Allah (SWT) appointed Adham (AS) the first manager after setting up the first organisation i.e. the family. Adham (AS) started to manage the affairs of the fast-growing family. His wife and children were his subordinates. And it continued till the last Prophet (ﷺ). The job of Prophets (AS) was far more complicated than the job of professional managers. Because they have the formal authority and receive reward for it. Subordinates are following them because they willingly assumed the job they are doing, and they receive rewards for it.
