'Old Granny Fox' is a beautifully-written children's book by esteemed author, Thornton W. Burgess (author of Peter Cottontail). It is perfect for readers young and old. The author, Burgess, wrote a great many stories about animals, as he firmly believed in animal welfare and nature conservation. It is the story of two foxes - Old Granny Fox, and Reddy. They live in the Green Meadows, near to the Smiling Pool, and the laughing brook. It has been a particularly harsh winter, and the two foxes are struggling to survive. They live near a farm with a chicken coop, but the farmers hate foxes, and they have a large hound that protects their land. And so, Old Granny Fox (who is wise, and extremely intelligent), must teach the younger fox a few tricks in regards to hunting, and self-preservation, all the while avoiding the humans, and their hound. It is a story of survival, which also features other characters such as Peter Rabbit, Bowser the Hound, Prickly Porky, and Quacker the duck.
