At least he had his writings to keep him occupied. Besides fiction, he also wrote non-fictional interviews, one of which leads to a friendship with a one-time film student who is now an assistant director in Hollywood. This also leads to a sit-down with some studio people about a film script based on one of his stories. But when they ask for corrections on the script and several treatments for other stories, all he can do is turn to a female script doctor for help.
