Europe-Whither Bound? (Quo Vadis Europa?) Being Letters of Travel from the Capitals of Europe in the Year 1921

About the Book World War I, also known as the First World War, or the Great War, was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 1914 to 1918. Called the "war to end all wars", more than 70 million military personnel were mobilized, and it resulted in more than 9 million military and 7 million civilians deaths. With the advent of the machinegun, but without fully developed airforce and mobile tanks, the tactical stalemate resulted in gruelling trench warfare on the Western front, Turkey (Gallipoli), and Southern (Italian) front. By contrast, battles were much more mobile on the Eastern front, and in Palestine. The war caused the collapse of the German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires, and significantly weakened the British Empire. The terms of the subsequent 1919 Treaty of Versailles are often held to have sown the seeds of the Second World War. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. You can search "Leopold Classic Library" in categories of your interest to find other books in our extensive collection. Happy reading!
