Discusses three general formulations for theoretical description of spectral line broadening (resolvant, Liouville space, and Feynman diagram) and their application to certain important broadening problems. After a study of the line broadening that arises from the interaction of radiator with its own electromagnetic field, author presents each technique in turn. Last three chapters devoted to principal problems involving either the motion of radiator relative to observer or the presence of other particles in neighborhood of the radiator.
