Mountain Valley Academy high school students announce publication of their seven-story science fiction anthology, Sci-Fi High - Live the Curriculum. Collaborating with local author C.R. Downing, students in Debbie Ray’s creative writing class set the stories in a New Mexico high school nicknamed Sci-Fi High. Integral to each story, and to the high school, is a phenomenon known as morphing. As the subtitle of the short story collection suggests, when a morph occurs, an entire classroom is “transformed” into an educational experience like no other. Instead of lectures, books, and worksheets, a student might find his or herself in a struggle to save the Declaration of Independence, cast as a lead dancer in The Nutcracker, thrown into the fairytale of the Little Mermaid, flying a pilotless commercial jet, matching wits with understudies attempting to sabotage a play, or helping out the man with the shopping bag in Tiananmen Square.
